& CDs for Children![]()
Dennis Roberts: words / Alex Roberts: music
Our therapeutic CDs use hypnotic suggestions and techniques to build confidence and mastery of the skills for managing behaviour. Music was especially composed to utilise rhythms that allow the conscious mind to drift to altered states of awareness. The CDs work at conscious and unconscious levels to promote positive change.
Notes accompanying the CDs include information on the subject, suggestions to help manage particular concerns and behaviours, and about when & how to use the CDs for maximum benefit and personal safety.

Breathing to Relax (playing time 32.03)
Teaches practical techniques for learning how to control the rate and depth of breathing. Breathing exercises are used for many different purposes. They are used in yoga and meditation to improve attention, to calm the mind of distraction, and to develop awareness. Breathing exercises are also used for therapeutic purposes:e.g. to promote correct breathing; to promote relaxation and relieve tension and stress; to teach skills that help with the management of strong emotional states, like anxiety, anger, panic; to help in pain management,as in childbirth; and as an aid to developing concentration skills.
These exercises are gentle and easy to follow. They include meditations on breathing and suggestions for:- relaxation; for developing attention, awareness and concentration; and suggestions on how to prepare for and manage strong emotional states.
Deep Progressive Muscle Relaxation (playing time 46.04)
A set of exercises and suggestions to release muscular tension and achieve a calm and relaxed mental state. The exercises use active & passive techniques. The active techniques involve tensing and relaxing all the muscle groups in the body in turn. The passive techniques include suggestions for developing and deepening relaxation.
These exercises help to develop awareness of breathing and of muscular tension and relaxation. With regular practice the techniques presented can be learnt and applied in potentially stressful situations. They teach practical strategies to release and reduce states of tension and anxiety and engage the quiet restfulness of deep muscle relaxation.
The Seasons: Relax with Guided Imagery (playing time 45.18)
A relaxation exercise using guided imagery & hypnotic techniques to relax and invite the listener to explore a metaphorical journey through the seasons.Includes suggestions for relaxation, positive change and personal development.
Relaxation training and guided imagery techniques can help in many different ways to enhance learning, performance and development. When we are in a relaxed state it is easier to let ideas, images and associations drift in and out of our conscious awareness. No wonder that relaxation training and guided imagery techniques are being used extensively in so many different areas:e.g.in accelerated learning programmes for adults and children; and in programmes for developing and enhancing performance in sport, entertainment, advertising and commerce.
We all experience the world through our senses and our minds create representations from all our senses. How we experience things depends on our awareness and the attention we give to that experience. Our past experiences and how we interpret them and feel about them are based on this sensory information and our memory, and how they interact, as demonstrated by our thoughts, feelings and actions. So we can change the way we experience events dramatically by making subtle changes in ways that we think, feel and act.
Gives hypnotic suggestions for over-coming sleep difficulties and establishing a healthy sleep pattern.
Everyone has trouble sleeping at some time, whether it's with getting off to sleep, staying asleep throughout the night or getting a settled and restful night. Sometimes our sleep is interrupted or disrupted. It can be disturbed by any number of things and sometimes we can feel disturbed following a restless night or occasionally by a bad dream or a nightmare.
Insomnia is fairly common but the most common experience of sufferers is the worry that makes things worse and which solves nothing! It's much better if we can think through options for change and choose actions that can improve our situation. To facilitate this, the CD notes give practical suggestions for removing unwanted habits and establishing healthy sleep patterns in achievable and realistic steps.
Pain Management(playing time 29.36)
Pain Management uses relaxation, guided imagery and hypnosis techniques to promote relaxation, in order to provide some temporary relief from pain, and to practise strategies that may help to provide additional alternative methods to help manage or alleviate pain in some conditions.
It is recommended that Medical consultation, advice, diagnosis and treatment should be sought for all symptons affecting health, and for any unexpected, acute or severe pain in any part of the body. Medical advice is also recommended before starting alternative or complementary therapies.
Mind-Body methods are considered to to be additional to medical treatments or interventions and not a replacement for them. Relaxation techniques and self hypnosis have the potential to alleviate pain in some cases.
Stop Smoking combines the power of Hypnotic Suggestion with Music and NLP techniques to help you to stop smoking and to stay a non-smoker.Suggestions are given for relaxation and for utilising unconscious psychological processes that are required to make these changes. This is facilitated by gentle control of breathing, muscular relaxation and focussed awareness. Imagery techniques are used to practise new strategies and rehearse positive and healthy behaviour patterns.
The CD Notes outline the risks and benefits and explain why the steps to stop smoking are Cognitive, Behavioural and Hypnotherapeutic. Strong psychological processes are at work to maintain the state of mind where conflicting or contradictory thoughts are held simultaneously, referred to as ambivalence. The steps to quit and maintain abstinence focus on thoughts and beliefs (cognition),feelings (sensations and emotions), actions (behaviour), and on unconscious psychological processes.
Hypnotic suggestions and NLP techniques are combined to help you learn and master the skills and behaviour patterns to develop and achieve success at sports and performance activities. Suggestions are given for developing relaxation and awareness. Positive imagery is used to develop and rehearse successful strategies for improving performanceRelaxation and positive imagery have long been used in programs to develop and enhance sports performance - like visuo-motor behaviour rehearsal (VMBR).Now they are combined here with Hypnosis, Music and NLP techniques.

Scripts include direct instructions and indirect approaches that prompt learning at different levels, consciously and unconsciously. They use expressive activities, positive imagery and metaphor to encourage children to respond in thought, feeling and action. These approaches help children to learn to understand and express their feelings and ideas with self-confidence and respect for others (Reference:"Developmental Groupwork" D.Roberts, Educational Psychology in Practice Vol 13, No 2, July 1997).
